Portugal - a Clean and Safe destination
Turismo de Portugal has launched a "Clean & Safe" label.
In a nutshell, this label distinguishes tourist activities / companies which are compliant with the hygiene and cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of COVID-19, as well as other possible infections.
These requirements are set by Tourismo de Portugal.
As of the 24th of April 2020, tourism enterprises, tourist companies and travel agencies that are officially registered with the National Tourist Authority, have been able to request the certification as a "Clean & Safe" company.
Once companies have submitted the "Declaration of Commitment", they can then publish the "Clean & Safe" label, either physically on their premises or on their digital platforms.
This way, Turismo de Portugal has been able to inform companies on the hygiene requirements and cleaning measures to ensure the safety of various establishments, in accordance with the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
Turismo de Portugal, in coordination with the relevant entities, will carry out random audits of companies that join this "Clean & Safe" initiative. This ensures that companies continously adhere to the guidelines and safety standards. Furthermore, the label has to be renewed annually.
The initiative promotes Portugal as a safe destination and encourages companies to implement the necessary hygiene measures to avoid the risks of transmission and guarantee safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities.
