This walking tour we start in Montaria village (350m) after which we will walk through ancient paths used by local shepherds to reach their shelters called brandas, located at the top of Serra D’Arga Mountain (825m). In the past the local shepherds used to stay at the top of the mountain during the summer time and they would return to the village in autumn to stay in the again until the end of spring.
Walking to the top of Serra D’Arga you will be able to admire the stunning view over the coastline of Portugal and Spain, a breathtaking 360º wide view over the whole region!
During this walk we will visit some natural spots in order to look for a quite rare Portuguese breed of wild horses called garranos who roam freely in the mountains. And because we will be walking through the wolf territory, before finishing our walk, we will also try to find the tracks left by the local wolves.
