Walking holiday Portugal from Serra de Arga mountains to the sea

Our new self-guided walking holiday from Serra de Arga mountain to the sea starts in Serra de Arga Naturpark home of traditional villages, waterfalls, Iberian wolves and wild horses. 

After a wonderful walk in the mountains you will walk towards the sea to enjoy two coastal walks discovering part of the camino to Santiago and some traditional towns.

This tour could be done in the company of a docile donkey! 

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Serra D’Arga Mountain (Montaria, Viana do Castelo)

If you arrive earlier you can do a loop in Montaria village to explore the Serra D´Arga Mountain.

Day 2: Serra de Arga Mountains » Montaria watermills and Pincho waterfall - 11 km

This walk will take you all around the main river in Serra D´Arga. You will walk along old water pipes that carry water from the river and take it into the corn fields. Afterwards, you will arrive to the main square of Montaria with bars and restaurants where we will be able to stop for a drink or some food.
During this tour you will pass through many different landscapes, the banks of the river surrounded by watermills and the mountain areas with wonderful panoramic views.

Along this walk you will visit Pincho waterfall and lagoons, where you can make a break to relax and enjoy nature or even have a swim in the crystal-clear water.

Day 3: From Serra de Arga Mountains to the sea - 15km

Leaving behind Serra D´Arga Mountains you enjoy the views to the sea on a far distance.
Walking through the mountains you will arrive in a wonderful viewpoint in Caminha.
From the viewpoint you will see the Minho river, Caminha, Spain and the ocean.
You will end the walk at the historical centre of Caminha facing Galicia, Spain.

Day 4 - From Caminha to Vila Praia de Âncora, coastal walk on the atlantic route - 10km

Leaving behind Caminha you start your journey walking near the Minho river and trough the beautiful Camarido pine woods.

You will arrive in Moledo a famous beach area during summer time and from Moledo you will walk on a Ecovia towards Vila Praia de Âncora where you will finish the walk.

Overnight stay in Vila Praia de Âncora.

Day 5 - Walk from Vila Praia de Âncora to Viana do Castelo, a day on the Portuguese coastal way - camino de Santiago - 19km

This walk is another complete contrast, as you walk along the Atlantic Coast northwards from Viana to Vila Praia de Âncora. On this route is you walk nearby sandy beaches and you can see some of old windmills nearby the coast.

Overnight stay in Viana do Castelo. 

Day 6 - Free day in Viana do Castelo

Day 7 - Departure
