Explore Northern Portugal and Galicia on two wheels. Away from the city crowds, cycle through beautiful landscapes full of greenery and still undiscovered places in Viana do Castelo. Starting in Serra D’Arga Nature Reserve and ending in Baiona, Galicia, you will discover mountain villages, the coastline, its beaches, Lima Valley and our famous wine region.
Day 1: Arrival in Serra D´Arga
Transfer from Porto (Portugal) or Vigo (Spain) airports to Montaria village (1 hour).
Free time in the afternoon exploring the mountain villages of Serra D’Arga and the local lagoons.
Day 2: Serra D’Arga - Ponte de Lima (30 km):
Starting our day in Serra D’Arga we will cycle through Montaria mountain village to visit the local watermills and then we will ride downhill following the path in direction of Ponte de Lima.
After our visit in Montaria mountain village we will go through Lagoas de Bertiandos and S. Pedro d’Arcos, a Nature Reserve which is rich in wide diversity of fauna and flora. On the way we will stop for a picnic lunch and to taking photos.
We will finish the day in Ponte de Lima, the oldest town in Portugal!
Day 3: Ponte de Lima – Viana do Castelo (30 km):
On this day, you will discover the wine region of the Lima Valley cycling along the Lima river banks and enjoying the silence. During this tour we will visit a family-owned winery and taste vinho verde (green wine).
At the end of the day we will go to Viana do Castelo cycling through the historic city center after which we will arrive to the hotel.
Day 4: Viana do Castelo - Caminha (35 km):
Cycling along the coastline you will observe how nicely changes the landscape from Viana do Castelo to Caminha.
This day you will discover some of the best beaches in the Minho region and you will visit the old windmills near the Atlantic. Later this day we will also stop for a picnic lunch and after recovering our energy, we will visit the fishermen town of Vila Praia de Âncora, just before finishing our day in Caminha, on the border between Portugal and Spain.
Day 5: From Caminha (Portugal) to Baiona (Spain) - 35 kms:
Leaving Caminha (Portugal) we will take the ferry to cross the border and we will arrive in A Guarda, Galicia - Spain. From A Guarda we will ride along the Galician coast to reach the medieval town of Baiona. This is one of the most beautifull routes in Spain all the time along the coast.
Day 6: Departure or first day on the Portuguese Coastal way from Baiona to Santiago (optional).
After breakfast you will return to the airport.
